This 1955 Ford F-100 was given a comprehensive restoration to create a bright red period-correct classic. Except just like your best nostalgia, they made it subtly better than the original. After all, what 1950s pickup has an interior with supple leather and air conditioning?
You can instantly see by the way the red radiates under our showroom light that someone spent time, effort, and serious money on this truck. The restoration was completed around 2014, and we have receipts totaling over $43k just for the components and work. And since this truck has traveled less than 700 miles since completion,. That means bright chrome bumpers, two-piece wheel covers, bright whitewalls, a bed-mounted spare, step plates, and plenty of glossy real lumber in the truck bed.
Inside is more of that absolutely classic look, but with a far richer feeling. The supple leather bench seat is vastly more comfortable than anything that came out of the 1950s. It coordinates nicely with the matching door panels, headliner, and new carpeting to create a high quality feeling. The restoration made sure to leave the right vintage pieces, like the classic gauge setup, clean dash, old-school heat box, and three-spoke steering wheel with correct Ford power logo in the center. But while this is absolutely a classic, there are also some upgrades you are going to really appreciate. For example, they took the time to install modern three-point seatbelts. And the modern R134a air conditioning cleanly installed below the dash really makes this F-100 a great all-day driver.
Under the hood is more honesty with the right investments. So you get Ford's hardy 223 inline-six. This has a reputation for being as robust as an anvil, and that only gets better on an example that was overhauled during the restoration. The clean engine bay show investment in keeping fundamentals new while still having an overall vintage setup. And that's the whole point of a truck like this. It's about keeping you in contact with the classic feeling in a restored/trustworthy package. So you still take full control of the motor with a classic column-shifted three-speed manual transmission, and the feeling going down the road is pure nostalgia.
